Review: Pivot Point

Pivot Point by Kasie West
Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1)
Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .

Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.

In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without. ~Goodreads

Pivot point is a must read! I cannot believe how much I loved this book :). I’m going to tell a little secret here. When I picked this book up at the library I thought it was becoming (my brain decided to give me the silent treatment apparently.) so I went to read it and I was like hold the phone! But once I realized my mistake I was O.K. because I had wanted to read this book anyways but anyways...
Addison Coleman, the socially awkward, geeky, and slightly sarcastic Divergent. She can Search her future. Sounds awesome right? Well it is except for now she has to use her gift to decide which parent to life with once they get their divorce. Whether to stay in the only home she has known in a community of people with higher intelligence and paranormal abilities. Or to venture out and move to the outside world.
By the third chapter you are reading two different stories. Now, it is not as confusing as it might seem but you may want to go to a quiet room and be ready to read for a significant amount of time so that you can keep up. I read it in three days(ish), not because it was a long book or it was boring but it was just a lot to take in. I can’t say too much without giving the story away but I can say the romance was steamy but stayed completely within the Young Adult/ Teen genre, there was some action that I was not expecting. The book was amazing and as much as I would love to say more about the totally hot and swoon-worthy boyfriend, I can’t :/. The author did an amazing job with a totally original book and I can honestly say I’m going to pitch-slap someone if I don’t get more info on the sequel soon...

“Duke, this is Laila. Laila, this is Duke.” That sounded right. But maybe I am supposed to include a little something about each of them. Like, Duke, this is Laila; she thinks your hot. Laila, this is Duke; he and his mirror share a close relationship.

When my lungs start to burn, I realize I am holding my breath. I suck in some air. There’s a tug at the bottom of my shirt, and I look down to see a section of it wrapped around his index finger. My eye’s dart to his, and he’s staring at me with intensity. My whole body feels like it’s been turned to liquid, and I barely resist the urge to melt to the floor.
